Abstract
Jambi Province contains the third-largest peatland area on Sumatra Island and experiences forest and land fires almost every year, particularly during the dry season. Peatland fires are more destructive and difficult to extinguish than fires on mineral soils. Restoration of burned peatlands through vegetation rehabilitation is an important effort to recover ecosystem functions. This study aimed to evaluate the success of vegetation rehabilitation in the concession area of PT. Kaswari Unggul, Catur Rahayu Village, East Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province. The research used a Systematic Sampling with Random Start method, where the first plot was selected randomly and subsequent plots were determined systematically. Data were collected by counting the number of surviving and dead plants in four observation plots established in 2020. The results showed that 220 trees were planted across the four plots. Plots 1 and 4 achieved the highest survival rate, with 55 living plants each (100% survival). Overall, the vegetation rehabilitation program achieved a plant survival rate of 96%, indicating that the rehabilitation efforts were highly successful. These findings demonstrate that vegetation restoration can effectively support the recovery of fire-affected peatland ecosystems in the study area.
