Abstract

A This study aims to analyze the utilization of mangrove ecosystems for the development of ecotourism in Pangkal Babu, Tungkal I Village, Tungkal Ilir District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency. The research employed a mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation involving 27 respondents who are members of the Pangkal Babu Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS). The results indicate that the mangrove ecosystem significantly contributes to ecotourism development. The tourism potential aspect achieved an average score of 4.22 (high), transportation 4.15 (high), facilities 4.20 (high), and ecosystem 4.56 (very high). It concludes that the Pangkal Babu mangrove ecosystem has great potential to be developed into a community-based ecotourism destination emphasizing conservation and local empowerment.
