This study aims to determine the application of competent human resource management in improving the professionalism of teachers of SMAN 13 Muaro Jambi. The type of research used in the research is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data processed was the result of interviews from informants, namely the Principal and Teachers at SMAN 13 Muaro Jambi. The data collection techniques used are by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques are carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation, verification and conclusion drawn. Based on the results of the research conducted by the researcher, the conclusion that can be drawn is that human resources at SMAN 13 Muaro Jambi can be categorized as good or adequate both in quantity and quality. Efforts to improve the professionalism of teachers at SMAN 13 Muaro Jambi have been well carried out in terms of understanding the demands of the profession, achieving qualifications and competencies, building good and broad relationships through professional organizations, developing work ethic, and adopting innovations in the use of communication and information technology. The implementation of human resource management by the principal of SMAN 13 Muaro Jambi has been carried out well, especially in terms of: human resource placement, human resource training and development, performance assessment using qualitative assessment, and compensation/incentive honorarium.
